This position is responsible for setting the example to provide outstanding customer service directing guests to appropriate visitation rooms and services. In addition they will provide assistance to families and guests during their mortuary time, while exhibiting empathy, warmth and friendliness, all while providing a pleasant atmosphere.

Essential Job Functions: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. This position requires to be onsite.

  • Lead the team in providing exemplary service to both the public and fellow organizational team members:
    • Conduct daily room quality control checks
    • Oversee the daily room report
    • Ensure that policies and procedures are followed
    • Communicate daily staffing needs
    • Ensure timely processing of decedent clothing
    • Facilitate release of cremated remains
  • At all times, set the example in presenting warmth, compassion, empathy, and diplomacy to grieving family members and guests.
  • Delegates duties to team members in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Provide directions to Rose Hills, to the proper viewing rooms, and to interment locations.
  • Give service and viewing time information to families, florists, and visitor.
  • Direct and assist families and their guests to proper viewing rooms and chapels.
  • Assist with audio/visual media used during services/viewings.
  • Support evening Chapel services inclusive of visitations, rosaries, memorial services, etc.
  • Answer families’ questions and provide personal assistance as needed.
  • Maintain chapel/visitation room cleanliness and report concerns to management.
  • Release cremated remains by following all legalities and providing a comforting atmosphere for the family.
  • Accept, inventory, and accurately log into the system, clothing and personal items of the deceased with notation of any “special requests” by the family.
  • Mentor, coach, and support fellow associates.
  • Prepare associate schedule as well as daily tasks as needed.
  • Participate in training and skill development opportunities to improve competency and customer service.

Qualifications:

  • Must exhibit good written and oral communication as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Act on customer complaints and provide satisfactory resolution.
  • Adhere to Company policies, procedure, rules and controls.
  • Adhere to safety rules and regulations, and report unsafe practices to management.
  • Must possess problem solving skills, detail oriented and display a high level of integrity.
  • Punctuality and sense of urgency to serve families daily
  • Self-motivated and flexible
  • Ability to work positively with other people
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and differentiate level of importance
  • Ability to work in a highly emotional environment
  • Knowledge of audio/visual media a plus
  • Basic PC skills with MS Word, Excel and Outlook; HMIS knowledge a plus
  • Bi-Lingual a plus
  • Work with and around human remains
  • Must be able to pass a lift test with the ability to lift 50+ lbs. (pre-employment physical and lifting test required)   
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • Minimum 2 year experience in previous mortuary/funeral service positions
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be altered to support needs of business

Compensation:

$21.00/hr - $24.50/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
