At the cardiac Surgery unit of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, we provide traditional open-heart surgery and a range of innovative procedures and treatments. Our program at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center is one of the nation's leading programs, offering minimally invasive procedures and other cutting-edge treatments. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team at the forefront of cardiac surgery, providing our patients with the highest level of care. Our surgeons specialize in the treatment of patients with acquired and congenital heart disease and conduct groundbreaking research and clinical work in procedures such as coronary artery bypass, valve repair, and replacement, as well as heart, lung, and heart-lung transplantation.

As a Nurse leader, you will manage all aspects and daily operations of the cardiothoracic surgery step-down unit and have the unique opportunity to inspire and mentor over 100 FTEs, driving their professional growth. You will be at the forefront of strategic initiatives that shape the future of emergency care and align with hospital-wide goals. Regularly assessing unit operations and identifying process improvements to enhance the patient experience will be a key part of your role. You will assume front-line responsibility for the unit's fiscal performance, resource allocation, scheduling, staff evaluation, and patient care delivery on a 24-hour basis, significantly impacting the unit's success. 

This is a full-time day shift position at NYP/Columbia University Medical Center.

Preferred Criteria

  • Five years of leadership experience in Cardiac Nursing within a large academic medical center

  • NE or NEA certification

  • Experience with union environments

 

Required Criteria

  • At least three years of acute care cardiac surgery experience in progressive leadership positions

  • Current AHA BLS

  • Master's degree in Nursing (MSN)

  • Current NYS RN licensure (or willingness to obtain within 3 months)

$150,000-$185,000/Annual
