Job Description Summary
The Power Conversion Electro-Mechanical Design Technical Leader will lead a team responsible for packaging and environmental testing of the power converter. The engineers on the power conversion mechanical team are responsible for the mechanical design and certification of the Onshore product, and are responsible to support offshore testing and validation. The Technical Leader will provide technical work direction, mentoring and on-going feedback to engineers and work cross functionally with systems engineering, product line, validation, sourcing and quality teams. Focus for a Technical Leader is two areas:
i) ensure operational excellence: ensure on time completion of all hardware releases, coach/support technically engineers in their design challenges; identify training to address gaps of skillset within the team.
ii) ensure consistency of practice within the team: standardization of processes, design practices, lean tools used across components and products; own the MGPP for components and work with the Functional Manager to implement that MGPP.

Responsibilities
Leading:
- Communicate design details and technical recommendations to senior leadership
- Ensure lessons learned are promptly incorporated into design
- Assist team in providing innovative design solutions to deliver world class Safety and Quality for power converters and their associated components
- Drive should-cost assessments and support cost optimization efforts with suppliers to meet component cost targets at sub-system level
Operation:
- Prioritize and delegate work to a global team of design engineers
- Coordinate daily operations of the team with Functional Manager: Definition of priorities, schedule, assignation of resources
- Work closely with customers, fleet support teams and systems engineering on fleet issues and improvement determinations
Deliverables:
- Review, as needed, critical drawings, schematics and technical specification for accuracy prior to release
- Review, as needed, design reviews documents prior to CTH evaluation to ensure it is according to standards
- Ensure quality of deliverables, on time delivery, design cost, DFMEA, performance, availability, weight and general targets defined by the business related to the sub-system.
Support:
- Work with cross-functions (other engineering teams, systems, product line, sourcing) to ensure a cross-segment development of sub-system
- Interface with test labs to drive validation strategy of sub-system requirements
- Provide technical guidance, supporting CTH and PBM owners to define and apply design practices, standards, new methods or tools to ensure safety and quality of the product.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 5+ years proven technology and/or product management experience in yaw system or in similar position.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Desired Characteristics
- Wind industry expertise with proven results developing & implementing technology programs.
- Experience in conducting system validation, test bench testing, and field measurements
- Knowledge of Standards and Design Codes.
- Skilled in electrical component design calculations, specifications and schematics.
- Demonstrated system thinking: ability to assess tradeoffs, effectively assess risk, and optimize results.
- Business acumen and customer focus.
- Demonstrated ability to work horizontally across stakeholders to influence outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal skills including: ownership, self-motivated, problem solving, analytical, team player, communication skills and ability to develop relationships.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $131 700,00 and $219 300,00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
