Job Title: Transformation Program Manager

Current Need:

The Transformation Program Manager will serve as the operational backbone for a portfolio of initiatives being driven by the McKesson Transformation Office (MTO), responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the tools, processes, and governance routines that enable effective execution these initiatives. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring transparency, consistency, and accountability across a portfolio of high-impact programs.

This is a critical role for the McKesson Transformation Office (MTO) that requires a recognized expert in program and portfolio management who can operate independently, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement in how transformation is delivered.  This Program Manager will be an essential partner and insights provider to the VP, Transformation in order to track the overall program and proactively identify and address potential risks / issues for the transformation efforts.

Job Responsibilities:

Program Management Design & Implementation – Develop and implement the foundational program management structure of the assigned portfolio of transformation initiative(s), including project management standards, governance routines, reporting cadences, and documentation templates. Establish a consolidated repository and process to track risks / issues, action items, interdependencies, and decisions (RAID). 

  • Ensure alignment with enterprise-wide project management standards where applicable.

Tooling & Infrastructure – Select, configure, and maintain the tools and platforms used to manage the transformation portfolio (e.g., Smartsheet, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).

  • Ensure tools are user-friendly, scalable, and support real-time visibility into program status, risks, and dependencies.  Enable an agile and flexible way of working for workstreams that is not overly burdensome with administration and process.

Program Tracking & Reporting – Establish and maintain dashboards, trackers, and reporting mechanisms to monitor progress across all transformation workstreams.

  • Provide timely and accurate updates to senior stakeholders, including the SVP, CFO and EOT, as well as “downward” to the workstream leads, working teams, and any external partners, as needed.

Governance & Risk Management – Facilitate governance routines such as Steering Committees, workstream check-ins, and risk reviews.

  • Ensure that risks, issues, and decisions are documented, escalated, and resolved in a timely manner.

Continuous Improvement & Enablement – Proactively solicit and incorporate stakeholder feedback to evolve and improve tools, processes, deliverables, etc.

  • Identify opportunities to continually improve program management processes and tools and document best practices.
  • Provide guidance and training to workstream leads and project managers to ensure consistent application of program standards and practices.

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities): Education/Training – Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

Business Experience – 10+ years of experience in program/project management, with at least 3+ years in a program or portfolio management role, ideally within McKesson. Experience supporting large-scale transformation, M&A, or integration programs in a matrixed enterprise is a significant plus and as if not more desirable than years of experience.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills

  • Recognized expertise in project and portfolio management tools and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence and gain buy-in with key stakeholders to project management processes.
  • Comfort operating independently and proactively identifying areas for improvement.

Working Conditions: 

  • Traditional office environment with remote working flexibility
  • Some travel required for executive engagements, workshops, and other program activities as needed.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$148,100 - $246,800
