Job Summary
The resource will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise Oracle and SQL databases to ensure high availability, performance, and security. This role requires strong hands-on technical expertise, proactive monitoring, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration
Perform end-to-end database administration activities including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migrations
Manage and monitor Oracle and SQL Server databases in production and non-production environments
Support high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions (e.g., Data Guard, AlwaysOn)
Execute backup, recovery, and restore operations and ensure data integrity
Performance, Reliability & Security
Monitor database performance and proactively identify bottlenecks
Perform performance tuning (SQL queries, indexing, execution plans)
Ensure database security, patching, and compliance with organizational policies
Work on incident resolution and problem management for database-related issues
Support & Operations
Act as L2/L3 support for database-related incidents and service requests
Participate in on-call rotation and handle production issues within SLA
Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures
Collaboration & Delivery
Work closely with application, infrastructure, cloud, and security teams
Support application deployments, releases, and database changes
Assist in cloud migration, automation, and modernization initiatives
Support tools like Rimini ADS and Power BI Gateway administration (good to have)
Documentation & Governance
Maintain database documentation, SOPs, and runbooks
Ensure adherence to change management, audit, and compliance requirements
Participate in internal audits and process improvements
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database (PL/SQL, performance tuning)
Good experience in SQL Server administration and query optimization
Knowledge of backup/recovery, HA/DR concepts, and monitoring tools
Working knowledge of Linux/Unix and basic scripting (Shell/Python)
Exposure to automation tools is a plus
Experience & Education
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent
6–8 years of experience in database administration
Experience working in production support environments
Preferred Certifications
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) – preferred
Microsoft SQL certifications – added advantage

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Good communication and stakeholder interaction
Ability to work in high-pressure production environments
