Maintenance Manager, Unki Mine
The Role
The Maintenance Manager leads the maintenance operations on site. The role is responsible for ensuring that all equipment and machinery operates efficiently, safely and reliably to support uninterrupted production for the customer. As the most senior Sandvik role on site, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring maximum equipment availability, reliability, and safety while driving operational excellence and compliance with Sandvik standards. The Maintenance Manager will manage employees on site to achieve set targets in a professional and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach and mentor maintenance teams, promoting a culture of continuous learning & improvement.
- Plan and coordinate resources, tooling, spares, and labour for efficient maintenance execution.
- Develop and implement manpower plans that ensure adequate staffing levels to meet operational requirements & actively promote diversity and inclusion by considering a broad range of skills and backgrounds
- Oversee maintenance schedules and ensure repairs meet OEM standards.
- Ensure equipment availability according to the set targets.
- Interface daily with customer officials to address pain points and needs proactively, providing solutions to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Manage maintenance budgets, while driving cost optimization without compromising quality of work and reliability.
- Coordinate with Engineering, and Procurement teams to align maintenance activities & requirements with operational goals.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
- Analyse maintenance data to identify trends and implement best practices.
- Represent and progress Sandvik’s interest in all customer interactions.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, policies and procedures, fostering a zero-incident culture.
Your Profile:
- Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive Engineering or similar
- Registration with the Engineering council of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Institute of Engineers.
- Minimum 5 years in a similar role within the mining industry
- Minimum 3 years in a leadership role
- Strong understanding of mining operations
- Strong commercial acumen
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to collaborate in a matrix organisation
- Medical and physical ability to work in a mine environment
- Computer literacy
- Valid driver’s license & passport
