We’re in an unbelievably exciting area of tech and are fundamentally reshaping the data storage industry. Here, you lead with innovative thinking, grow along with us, and join the smartest team in the industry.
This type of work—work that changes the world—is what the tech industry was founded on. So, if you're ready to seize the endless opportunities and leave your mark, come join us.
Roles
This highly specialized role, Team Lead, Kernel and Driver Development, requires a technical leader responsible for the entire software lifecycle of core storage area network components. The individual will lead the development, debugging, and long-term maintenance of the Linux initiator stacks attached to the FlashArray, with a specific focus on NVMe Fabrics (RoCE, FC, TCP/IP). Key responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing Purity’s Fibre Channel SCSI target driver and NIC drivers, while actively contributing to system resilience and performance optimization—even submitting bug fixes and enhancements to Linux upstream. This demands close collaboration with hardware teams on system bring-up and interface design, leveraging expertise in C/C++ to ensure the overall correctness, stability, and speed of the storage protocols.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead Full Lifecycle Development: Direct the end-to-end software lifecycle (architecture, design, coding, debugging, release) for system software, including inventory, configuration, and monitoring.
Storage Protocol Focus: Develop and fix software for Linux initiator stacks attached to FlashArray, focusing on modern NVMe Fabrics (RoCE, FC, TCP/IP) and traditional FC-SCSI interfaces.
Driver & Resilience: Maintain and enhance both Purity’s Fibre Channel SCSI target driver and NIC drivers, enhancing the resilience (multipathing, link health) and RAS capabilities of the stack.
Optimization & Upstreaming: Evaluate and optimize Linux initiator behavior for storage performance, contributing bug fixes and enhancements to Linux upstream as needed.
Hardware Integration: Design robust inter-component interfaces (software $\leftrightarrow$ hardware) and collaborate with hardware teams on system power-on, bring-up, and firmware management.
Kernel Expertise: Strong experience writing device drivers and/or kernel development for Linux/Unix, preferably in storage and/or networking.
Protocol Knowledge: Experience designing significant components in storage protocol stacks and knowledge of SCSI (FC-SCSI, iSCSI) and/or NVMe Fabrics.
Technical Leadership: Proven experience leading other engineers technically, including mentoring junior staff and delivering high-quality projects on time.
Debugging & Optimization: Expertise in performance analysis/optimization for storage systems and demonstrated experience debugging difficult protocol/kernel/system issues.
Required Toolkit: Proficiency in C and C++ development, experience with Python, and specific knowledge of the VMWare initiator stack.
