Manages the grounds provided at a cemetery or funeral home location(s). Performs all grounds keeping and maintenance matters on the properties and maintains the overall appearance of a cemetery, mausoleum or funeral home location.

This is a Temporary Full-Time Position – Grounds Specialist

Location: Victory Memorial Park Cemetery

Victory Memorial Park Cemetery is seeking a dedicated and responsible Grounds Specialist to join our team in a temporary full-time role, with the potential to transition to regular full-time employment after a successful probationary period. In this role, you will help maintain the beauty, safety, and dignity of our cemetery grounds, mausoleums, and funeral home properties. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of creating a respectful and welcoming environment for our families and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain all aspects of cemetery grounds: mowing, watering, fertilizing, trimming shrubs, and caring for flower beds
• Remove debris, trash, wilted flowers, and turn down vases when needed
• Operate lawn and grounds equipment, including push/power mowers, snow blowers, weed trimmers, and leaf blowers
• Move plywood, tools, and materials to support operations
• Participate in grave openings and closings for interments, entombments, and inurnments
• Perform minor repairs to cemetery grounds or building systems as required
• Assist with cremation-related duties when needed
• Comply with all safety procedures and applicable regulations, including WCB and environmental guidelines
• Assist in the movement and installation of burial vaults

Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year of groundskeeping or landscaping experience preferred

Skills & Abilities:

• Proficient in operating groundskeeping tools and equipment
• Ability to follow direction from the Superintendent or designated supervisor
• Capable of using measuring devices such as tape measures and yardsticks
• Comfortable working in various weather conditions
• Strong physical agility and manual dexterity
• Commitment to safe and responsible equipment use
• Effective teamwork and communication with coworkers, contractors, and client families

Additional Requirement:

• Valid driver’s license

Pay

• $24.50/hour – Temporary Full-Time
• $27.00/hour – Regular Full-Time (after probation)
