We are seeking a self-motivated lawyer to join our team. This position is best suited for an individual with the ability to lead and manage a variety of tasks and function at a high level to support multiple business teams. This is an opportunity for a bright and agile lawyer looking to grow and thrive as a leader and team member of a dynamic Legal and Compliance team.

You will join the General Counsel’s team with expected knowledge in areas of privacy, cybersecurity and AI laws and regulations with some experience in corporate law and governance where you will support our business objectives and strategies.  The ideal candidate will seek to continue their duties in the areas of privacy and cybersecurity while also seeking the opportunity to expand their responsibilities to in the corporate law area to support our global business from the General Counsel’s office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Primary support for the operation and maintenance of privacy and cybersecurity governance and training programs, policies and procedures and privacy management software with specific familiarity with US (SEC and state) laws, GDPR, including experience with conducting privacy assessments, managing data incidents and privacy audits and investigations, as well as other privacy laws where we operate

  • Provide legal advice, counsel, guidance and support to our holding company and subsidiaries on business transactions, M&A activities, contract review and regulatory and legal compliance issues with a specialty focus on global privacy and cybersecurity, AI, operational resilience and information management laws and regulations

  • Primary support for the operation and maintenance of privacy and cybersecurity governance and training programs, policies and procedures with specific familiarity with US (SEC and state) laws and GDPR, including experience with conducting privacy assessments, managing data incidents and privacy audits and investigations

  • Review and analyze global privacy-related employment compliance

  • Track and analyze global laws in the aforementioned areas, as well as other laws and regulations applicable to our global (re)insurance business, such sanctions, AML, HR and antitrust with aim of advising on legal trends and implementing solutions to meet our business and compliance goals

  • Subject matter expert for privacy, cybersecurity and related issues for the review, drafting and negotiating of corporate, IT and commercial contracts

  • Legal coordinator for cross-functional projects relating to privacy, cybersecurity, AI and operational resilience legislation

  • Assist with a range of corporate matters such as financing and capital transactions, intercompany arrangements, corporate governance and management

  • Assist with various regulatory matters and SEC filings and other public company matters with a particular focus on privacy, cybersecurity and related topics.  

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum 7-10 years as a practicing attorney at a law firm or in-house global (preferably public company) privacy and/or corporate law practice with international exposure

  • Currently licensed to practice law in one or more states

  • Experience advising on privacy and cybersecurity laws and compliance programs, including handling data incidents, conducting privacy risk assessments managing privacy and cybersecurity programs

  • Ability to successfully manage a variety of tasks and projects while functioning at a high level

  • Solid legal analysis, writing and communication skills

  • Lead counsel for reviewing, drafting and negotiating privacy and cybersecurity provisions in contracts (IT, operational) and commercial transaction

  • Ability to research, analyze, and monitor various regulations and laws impacting our business including privacy laws plus other laws impacting our global (re)insurance business

  • Team player and ability work across enterprise functions and to pivot easily between topics and tasks with interest in taking on new initiatives

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • While not required, experience or knowledge about the insurance and reinsurance industry is valued

  • Experience with public companies and familiarity with SEC laws and regulations

  • Experience with M&A transactions

  • Drafting and review of minutes and other basic corporate governance matters

Education:

  • Completion of 4-year degree

  • JD from accredited law school

For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$148,614 - $201,066/year

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs.  The above range may be modified in the future
