Compensation & Role Details:
Compensation: The expected salary range for this role is between $160,000 and $175,000 CAD, depending on experience and qualifications.

Position Summary:

The Director of Financial Operations serves as a strategic financial leader and business partner to the Executive Team of CMS and the broader CORA Loyalty portfolio. This role oversees and directs all accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with financial policies and procedures. The Director fosters a culture of high performance and continuous improvement, optimizing processes and implementing financial systems to enhance operational excellence.

Leadership and Management:

  • Accounting business partner to the Executive Team of CMS and the full CORA family of Loyalty companies.

  • Oversees, directs, and organizes the work of the finance teams in the CORA Loyalty businesses.

  • Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values process efficiency, individual accountability, and operational excellence.

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains accounting staff as required. Ensures staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development. Identifies skills gaps in staff and facilitates talent development through coaching and mentorship.

  • Establishes and monitors staff performance and development goals, assigns accountabilities, sets objectives, establishes priorities, conducts performance appraisals, and administers compensation adjustments.

  • Evaluates department needs and makes suggestions for increasing process efficiency and automating manual processes. Identifies, acquires and implements systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information.

  • Ensures that processes are fully documented, observed, and regularly evaluated.

  • Communicates, engages and interacts with the CEO, Executive Team, Functional Managers of the company and the CORA Finance organization.

Accounting Operations:

  • Oversees and manages the Accounting functions of CMS and the CORA Loyalty businesses to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases and financial software. Ensure appropriate regular maintenance and backup of all accounting systems and supervises all accounting-related staff of CMS and the CORA Loyalty Businesses.

  • Reviews and ensures application of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures for CMS and the full CORA portfolio of Loyalty companies.

  • Upgrades and implements an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures.

  • Enhances and implements financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems as needed.

Financial and Cash Management:

  • Manages cash flow planning process and ensures funds availability.

  • Oversees weekly cash management, approves payables, and authorizes large wires as directed by the CEO and Jonas Finance.

  • Supervises Accounts Receivable management and provides guidance relating to the collection process.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance is required.

  • An MBA degree is preferred.

  • Experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or Finance Manager is preferred.

  • Background with IT, ERP, and Accounting systems, notably Great Plains, is preferred.

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills is required.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability is required.

  • Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills are required.
