Meet Your Future Neighbors

As the Head of Design for Nextdoor's Monetization pillar, you'll shape strategy, drive design vision, and lead a small team of designers delivering exceptional outcomes for the businesses and brands on Nextdoor. From ad creation and management to reporting, analytics, and ad formats, you'll oversee monetization design across the Nextdoor ecosystem. This includes the envisioning and development of a new product line for small businesses success that is part of NEXT – the next generation user experience of Nextdoor. Entrepreneurial thinking is a must.

You’ll design tools that transform how businesses engage, serve, and convert local audiences. Curiosity and insights inspire you to rethink challenges and craft innovative solutions. In this cross-functional role, you'll help define priorities for the Monetization team, delivering impactful product experiences across platforms to shape the future of Nextdoor. This position reports to the Chief Design Officer.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Represent design as a key member of the Monetization leadership team, partnering with senior leaders across product, engineering, data science, and sales to shape the Neighborhood Monetization strategy
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive design strategy for advertising and SMB products that enhances user engagement and meets revenue goals
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment
  • Champion user experience best practices, ensuring that advertising products are intuitive and enhance the overall user journey
  • Own the full product design process, from strategy and research to prototyping, interaction design, and final QA for the Monetization pillar
  • Participate in in-person events, off-sites, and team-building activities to contribute to Nextdoor’s collaborative and KIND culture 
  • Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to the KIND culture that Nextdoor values

What You’ll Bring To The Team

  • 10+ years of product design experience, with significant time spent in advertising, marketing tech, or media industries; prior leadership roles required
  • Deep understanding of marketing, brand and performance advertising, lead generation, and a passion for supporting small businesses
  • Proven expertise across the product lifecycle: strategy, research, ideation, detailed design, and implementation
  • A supportive leadership style that cultivates team growth and success
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a track record of providing constructive feedback
  • Strong background in visual/interaction design, UX/UI, branding & identity, and typography
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and experience shipping both 0-to-1 and 1-to-n products
  • Familiarity with web and mobile front-end technologies, and application of AI technologies in tooling
  • Curiosity and passion for empowering neighbors and understanding global neighborhood dynamics

Rewards

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create our rewards package. Total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $241,000 - $270,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. Compensation may also vary by geography.

We expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date will take place within the first 3 months of your start date.
