This is a remote position, so you’ll be working remotely from your home. You may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or meetings.

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) will work on a team of other SREs in GoDaddy’s Hosting BU to build and maintain a performant, cost-conscious, scalable, reliable, maintainable, and secure platform for more than a million WordPress sites on AWS and on-prem OpenStack infrastructure. You seek to automate, instrument, and make data-driven decisions. You will work with other teams to solve security requirements; maintain useful documentation; and resolve production issues through effective troubleshooting and debugging. You will work independently to solve novel issues and evaluate/implement new technologies. You will proactively identify and resolve deficiencies and cost savings measures with the platform. While very capable of working independently, you will also work with other team members to move through blockers quickly. The ideal SRE welcomes and gives honest feedback, and incorporates this feedback into improving the quality of your work and the platform as a whole.

What you'll get to do...

  • Design and build the next-generation hosting platform for Managed WordPress.
  • Work in a team applying Agile methodologies to maintain a fast pace and deliver high-quality work.
  • Create and maintain tooling for efficient operation of the platform.
  • Evaluate technology choices for large-scale and cost-effective delivery of platform needs.
  • Monitor and resolve security issues, build with a security champion mindset.
  • Work with developers, operations, and support to debug complex cloud, OS, application, and networking issues.
  • Write and maintain documentation, runbooks, and other resources to maintain high-quality of knowledge standards.
  • Work inter-team to resolve requirements and dependencies.
  • Design operationally reliable, repeatable solutions for customer/business problems.

Your experience should include...

  • 5+ years experience in a related role (SRE, SDE, DevOps, Network Engineer, System Administrator, etc.).
  • A passion for delivering a great customer experience.
  • Adaptability to learn new technologies.
  • A security-first approach during all phases of the product life cycle.
  • Intermediate-level experience with most of the following technologies: AWS (especially EC2, RDS, CDK), Docker, Linux, Bash, Nomad, NGINX, PHP, at least one other programming language, networking, WordPress, MySQL, Grafana, Git, Elastic, Ansible, Redis, OpenStack.
  • Strong sense of ownership, ethics, and integrity.
