Requirements and Nature of Work:

Requirements:

  • PhD candidate in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health (University of Ottawa) OR PhD candidate in the School of Human Kinetics or the Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences (University of Ottawa).

  • Demonstrated experience with:

    • Intervention studies in the health field, including experimental and quasi-experimental studies, clinical and community trials.

    • Question formulation and literature review.

    • Research design issues (choice of design and study population, implications for validity of results).

    • Ethical considerations in research.

    • Instrument development, data collection, and data management.

    • Approaches to data analysis.

    • Report writing and presentation.

    • Examples drawn from both population-based and clinical research.

    • Development and presentation of proposals for intervention studies.

Nature of Work:

  • Preparation (15 hours): Uploading to Brightspace, downloading and organizing student assignments from Brightspace.

  • Student Contact (25 hours): Responding to student questions; marking assignments and presentations.

  • Marking/Grading: Partial grading of assignments and presentations.

  • Class Preparation: Supporting class preparation and participating in responses to student questions.
