POSITION SUMMARY:

In this role you will be reporting directly to the Director, Field Marketing and Communications to drive the successful design, creation and implementation of communication programs designed to meet the needs of a growth organization.

The ideal candidate has experience in managing and executing comprehensive, multi-channel communications strategies that drive adoption of business objectives by leveraging a variety of communication tools, technologies, and processes.  The candidate needs to be a strong collaborator, influential storyteller, and a trusted partner to key stakeholders across the organization. The role involves content creation tailored to reach multiple audiences.

Having successfully managed an editorial calendar, project plans, and supported the development of an editorial strategy for traditional and digital channels is important. This individual should possess business acumen, interpersonal and relationship-building skills as well as have experience in dealing with stakeholder at all levels across an organization.

LOCATION: This position will be in St. Louis (Hybrid schedule).

*Travel will be required as the business necessitates

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop and execute multi-stage business communication programs to various audiences by leveraging a variety of communication channels in support of company goals, priorities and initiatives.
  • Create well-written, validated, clear, and consistent business communications and collateral.
  • Develop and manage editorial and campaign calendars.
  • Participate in and/or lead cross-functional teams on projects that require communications expertise.
  • Provide creative ideas to ensure company messaging is forward-looking and innovative.
  • Liaises across the company and businesses to support communication needs and achievement of business objectives. 
  • Partner with other members of the Corporate Communications and Marketing teams to build literacy of Kemper’s businesses and strategies.
  • Perform other creative duties as needed.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • BA/BS degree in journalism, communications, PR or related field
  • 4 + years’ experience in Communications (internal, external or marketing), Public Relations, creative design and development, or similar experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and SharePoint
  • Experience successfully developing, driving and managing innovative communication strategies leveraging a variety of media including, but not limited to internet, email, meeting/events, video, social media, SharePoint, text/SMS and newsletters,
  • Experience with the management of digital communications and measurement systems, intranet platforms, content management systems, and other technologies designed to support internal communication strategies.
