BASIC FUNCTION:

Claremont McKenna College is seeking a full-time, experienced recruiter to help us fill a broad range of positions. The recruiter will serve as the liaison and point of contact for hiring departments and will manage the full cycle of recruitment including writing, reviewing and editing job descriptions, posting positions, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and facilitating communication between candidates and the hiring manager.   The ideal candidate will be motivated by the search process and aspire to find the best candidate for each and every position they recruit for. 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate all staff recruitment activities including but not limited to sourcing candidates, recruiting, and vetting qualified and diverse candidates for roles within the College;

  • Support faculty recruitment including but not limited to posting, sourcing, dispositioning and onboarding.

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify needs, create and update job descriptions; post vacancies; conduct reference checks; review background checks; prepare offer letters; and negotiate and extend offers of employment.

  • Provide administrative support, guidance and accountability throughout the interview process by preparing appropriate interview questions to quickly and accurately assess qualifications; conducting phone screens; scheduling interviews; and communicating effectively with the hiring manager, interview team and applicants during the interview and selection process.

  • Effectively evaluate applicants and candidates based upon department needs and with the intent to ensure that candidates understand and embrace the College’s culture

  • Pre-screen and present detailed and accurate profile summaries of candidates including appropriateness of skills, strengths, experience, knowledge and compensation.

  • Serve as primary point of contact for candidates, providing valuable and accurate information about the College and the position.

  • Ensure hiring manager and search committee members are provided with interview training as needed.

  • Maintain current knowledge of and provide training and support on Workday recruitment functionality and faculty application system.

  • Organize and document post-interview debriefing and feedback with search committees.

  • Disposition applications in the candidate management system (Workday and faculty application system).

  • Provide support and coordination of employee onboarding and transition activities

  • Conduct orientations for staff and faculty including but not limited to completing I-9 in compliant and timely manner. _

  • Utilize various job boards, sourcing tools and techniques to a attract and identify viable candidates

  • Network and maintain relationships with higher education talent community.

  • Audit job boards to ensure our postings are visible. 

  • Track and maintain metrics to summarize recruitment activity.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

EDUCATION: 

Bachelor’s degree is preferred or experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 

EXPERIENCE: 

Minimum of three years of experience as a recruiter and five years of experience with human resources including onboarding activities, preferably in higher education required. 

CERTIFICATION:

Human Resources certification preferred.

LICENSES: 

A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required.
 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:  Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge skills and abilities.

  • Working knowledge of employment and recruitment best practices, statues and laws.

  • Proven ability to adapt to changing recruitment needs, adjust pace of work and tolerate ambiguity, as well as manage multiple recruitments simultaneously with strong results and goal orientation.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple open searches, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and respond to changes quickly.  Must have excellent time management skills organizational skills.

  • Ability to assess applicant competency and experience.

  • Ability to prepare instructional material and provide hiring managers with training on the College’s applicant tracking system and best practices for conducting interviews

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive materials with tact and diplomacy and exercise discretion in dealing with controversial or potentially sensitive topics.

  • Skilled in organization and problem solving with diverse groups and stakeholders while working independently.

  • Skilled in written and verbal communication adjusting to the target audience.

  • Engaging and highly effective interpersonal and communication skills with diverse groups (faculty, staff, administrators, professionals and students).

  • Ability to adapt and flourish in a fast-paced environment. 

  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • A strong sense of accountability and professionalism

  • Computer proficiency with MS Office, HRIS databases, and applicant tracking systems.

  • Spanish speaking preferred.

OTHER:

HOURS:   The regular hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.  .  Hours may vary due to needs of the College or department.

SALARY RANGE:

The anticipated salary range is $75,000 - $80,000 per year. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required On-site or Remote Personnel       

During an emergency, required on-site or remote personnel provide services that relate directly to the health, safety, and welfare of the College, ensure continuity of key operations, and maintain and protect College properties.

On-site personnel are expected to come to work in emergency situations unless they are specifically excused by their departments.  On-site personnel are required to report to Campus to perform required function. 

Remote personnel can continue operations without physically reporting to campus.
