Job Description:

Position Summary: 

This position will be part of the xEV Maintenance team for Electric Vehicle products and will be responsible for the daily repair and maintenance of the manufacturing equipment on the DU line. The maintenance associate will also perform preventative maintenance on the equipment to keep it working in optimal condition and order all supplies and spare parts necessary. When issues arise during production the associate is expected to assess the situation, fix issues from low to moderate complexity, and implement countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence of the issue and reduce down time. The associate will be expected to document results and findings in Leading to Lean and use it to respond to maintenance requests. This position will work mainly within the DU manufacturing area but may be required to support other manufacturing areas as necessary. Essential job functions include: 

  • Confirm equipment starts up correctly at the beginning of the shift. 

  • Perform maintenance on the equipment and confirm it is working properly. 

  • Repair equipment in case of a breakdown during production. 

  • Troubleshoot PLC logic to determine root cause of the issue. 

  • Ensure that equipment is safe to utilize for all associates and that there are no failures in the safety devices. 

Works with other team members (Maintenance staff, Engineering staff, Production Management, production floor personnel). 

  

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills): 

  • High School diploma or GED. 

  • Minimum of 3 years related work experience or 2-year degree in related field. 

  

Preferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills): 

  • Work experience in automotive industry, with emphasis in electro/mechanical devices 

  • Knowledge of EV components such as inverters and motors 

  • Knowledge/experience with automotive power electronics  

  • Proficiency in Keyence PLC programming 

  • Proficiency in Fanuc robotics troubleshooting and programming 

  • Proficiency in Keyence vision programming 

 

Essential to Job Functions – Physical and/or Mental Restrictions: 

  • Ability to work flexible schedule including all shifts and days as needed 

  • Ability to work for long periods of time while sitting 

  • Standing, walking, and bending for the duration of the workday  

  • Ability to lift 35lbs from floor to a height of 4ft 

  • Ability to push or pull pallet jack up to 450lbs 

  • Visual ability to work accurately with detailed information and a computer screen 

 

Software: 

  • Beginner experience required in Windows, MSWord, PowerPoint, and Excel  

  • Ladder Logic – various platforms 

  • Robot programming – Fanuc 

  • Vision programming – Keyence 

  

Production and Location Start-up Duties: 

  • Work within small team to develop maintenance procedures for equipment to support smooth mass production start-up of EV products. 

  • Support PE team in installation and troubleshooting of the production equipment.  

  • Facility development and preparation for EV equipment installation and mass production  

  • Typical NPI duties as detailed by internal Astemo and customer requirements for start-up of new product/location. 

 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Ability to identify root cause of downtime events on equipment 

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings for mechanical and electrical systems to use for troubleshooting 

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills  

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail  

  • Maintain effectiveness and composure while dealing with equipment downtime situations and communicate clearly to production management situation and status 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of organization needed  

  • Maintain functional knowledge of procedures and equipment within manufacturing  

  • Promote and carry out the Hitachi Core Values  

  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and technical terminology 

  • Maintains clean and orderly work environment according to 6S 

  • Interacts with various levels of associates 

  

Supervisory Responsibilities:  

  • Will not supervise
