Position Summary...

What you'll do...

We are seeking a talented Web Engineer with a solid background in JavaScript, React & Node.js to join our Web Platform team at Walmart eCommerce. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for building performance engineering tools and processes for all the Walmart eCommerce sites. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of developers and the overall quality of our platform, serving over 265 million customers.


About Team:
Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

What you'll do:

  • Designing and delivering code that’s readable, maintainable, testable, scalable, reusable, and efficient
  • Working in an Agile team with engineers, designers, and product managers to solve problems as part of a team
  • Thinking from the customer’s perspective to recommend design improvements
  • Collaborating with backend teams to design effective and understandable APIs
  • Following established architecture patterns and suggesting improvements
  • Implementing new features according to specifications
  • Participating in code reviews for yourself and others
  • Investigating and fixing bugs
  • Building unit and UI tests
  • Learning and implementing the latest technologies
  • Mentoring fellow engineers
  • (*On-call rotations during daytime hours to help our Support team solve problems for customers*)


What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • Great Javascript, Node.js, React, Next.js, Typescript skills
  • Experience with building SSR (Server Side Rendering) and SSG (Static Site Generation) applications using NextJS.
  • Ability to use tools like Lighthouse, WebPageTest, or similar to evaluate and improve website performance.
  • Caching, logging, performance tuning, and monitoring
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle
  • Experience using GitHub
  • Unit testing best practices and patterns
  • CI/CD systems such as Jenkins
  • Comfortable working in a distributed team and communicating asynchronously.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00
