Compensation

Compensation includes a base salary of $65,500.00 - $98,300.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

Cox Communications, within the Enterprise Data Product Services division, is looking for a Data Engineer who is interested in specializing in Data Modeling to join the Data Product Services Team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing the conceptual, logical, and physical data models for the Data Organization. The ideal candidate should be eager to learn and contribute to the creation of enterprise-level data solutions and scalable data delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data model design and implementations including data analysis, data model design, data structures for cloud and non-cloud, support high-throughput data processing at scale

  • Develop and follow data model best practices with considerations for high data availability, computational efficiency, cost, and quality

  • Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models to identify key business entities and visualize their relationships

  • Maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models along with accurate metadata

  • Responsible for designing and implementing data modeling solutions using relational, dimensional, and NoSQL database methodologies

  • Analyze source systems and translate business needs into long-term solution data models by evaluating existing systems and working with a development team to create the appropriate data models and data flows that address the requirements

  • Provide documentation on the data design, end-user training, and change management communications

  • Support architecture and development teams through all project phases, including the knowledge transition phase

  • Present and communicate modeling results and recommendations to stakeholders, solution architects, developers, and DBAs

  • Ensure and enforce a governance process to oversee implementation activities and ensure alignment with the defined architecture

  • Perform data profiling/analysis activities that help to establish, modify, and maintain the data model

  • Regularly engage and consult stakeholders on solving business problems through data, guiding the conversation rather than following orders

  • Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions with a strategic approach

  • Keep up to date on new technologies, standards, and practices

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Information Systems, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent working experience. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as 12 years’ experience in a related field

  • Requires strong knowledge of SQL language across Oracle, AWS, and Snowflake databases

  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization

  • Experience or exposure to data modeling tools

  • Exposure to programming skills and ability to utilize a variety of software/languages/tools, e.g., Spark, R, Python, Scala, Java, C++, Hive, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.

  • Experience working in cloud environments such as Google, Microsoft, or Amazon

Preferred

  • Exposure or internships within telecommunications, cable industry, high tech, or consulting

  • Exposure to data visualization solutions and data visualization tools

  • Exposure to data catalogs
