Summary  

We are seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to drive and expand cloud-native AWS Kubernetes infrastructure and deployments, and lead a DevOps team responsible for Internal Developers infrastructure.  
 
The DevOps team uses infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Terragrunt, Crossplane, and CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and ArgoCD to provision and manage internal environments in AWS for Engineering teams and other internal customers. The Lead Engineer will oversee technology development and architecture to ensure that platforms, systems, and tools meet technical standards for security, quality, reliability, usability, scalability, performance, efficiency, and operability to support the needs of the MasterControl Engineering organization. 

To succeed in this role, you should work well with software and platform engineers to develop robust capabilities with minimal guidance. You are a fast learner, excited about new technologies, advocate for software craftsmanship, and take full ownership of projects. Strong written and communication skills and experience leading technical teams through large innovation initiatives are essential.  

Responsibilities  

  • Collaborate with Software Engineering teams to architect and develop infrastructure and automated deployments for cloud-native SaaS applications. 
  • Provision, manage, certify, and document new systems, environments, and cloud services.
  • Work as a team lead to help management decide on best resourcing for projects, alignment of work activities and technical leadership of activities. 
  • Define standards for deployments at scale, infrastructure, reliability, and scalability, then iterate and optimize continual improvements. 
  • Instrument observability in systems for reliability, performance, and efficiency.  
  • Influence, design, and create new architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale enterprise systems.   
  • Define standards for deployments at scale, infrastructure, reliability, and scalability, then iterate and optimize continual improvements.   
  • Manage always-available infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and platform tooling to eliminate downtime and improve the manageability of services and systems.   
  • Manage service availability and scalability through well-thought-out processes, custom tooling, and an eye for automation. Perform blameless post-mortems and help iterate and optimize incident response processes by helping bridge development teams and operations.     
  • Build infrastructure as code, drive automated configurations, and maintain the automation.

  

Required Skills  

  • 7+ years of experience as a technical lead in Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps or Platform Engineering areas 
  • 5+ years of experience automating complex cloud-native infrastructure using Terraform, Terragrunt, Crossplane, or other IaaC tools 
  • 5+ years hands-on DevOps experience working on complex cloud-based CI/CD pipelines utilizing Github Actions, Spinnaker, Jenkins 
  • 5+ years of experience building and managing complex cloud infrastructure in AWS or GCP (Advanced Certification is a plus) 
  • 5+ years of experience with Kubernetes (EKS, ArgoCD, Istio)  
  • 10+ years building and scaling distributed systems in cloud ecosystem 
  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems  
  • Experience in cloud-based networking 
  • Experience with observability systems (monitoring, tracing, logging) to instrument and manage large-scale global environments, 
  • Proficient in at least one or more of the programming languages: Java, Ruby, Rust, Python  
  • Experience / Knowledge of developing system requirements, documentation, architecture diagrams, implementation plans 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, lead a team, make decisions based upon priorities, schedules, and an understanding of business decisions

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000 - $180,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
