JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY: 

The Nursing Manager oversees nursing services and ensures safe patient care at designated outpatient oncology centers. Collaborating with clinical and operational leaders, they ensure exceptional patient care delivery and effective nursing staff management. Reporting to the Nursing Director, this role supports RNs, LVNs, and Nursing Supervisors, resolves complex patient care issues, and contributes to advancing the nursing department overall.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES: 

  • Lead and manage a team of Nursing Supervisors responsible for providing ongoing leadership and support to nursing staff at assigned outpatient oncology centers. 
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teammate engagement, health and wellbeing, professional growth and development, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, and mentorship of nursing staff, in partnership with Nursing leadership team.  
  • Conduct regular meetings with nursing supervisors and staff members, ensuring appropriate support levels and ongoing discussions related to education and training needs.  
  • Collaborate with nursing supervisors to evaluate staff performance, provide ongoing feedback, and implement performance improvement plans as needed. 
  • Work closely with nursing supervisors and clinical staff to maintain high standards of patient care and safety across all outpatient oncology centers. 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of patient care protocols, ensuring compliance with established standards and best practices. 
  • Address patient care concerns in collaboration with clinical and operations leadership teams. 
  • Partner with nursing leadership to identify staff training needs and facilitate ongoing education and professional development opportunities. 
  • Support nursing supervisors in mentoring and coaching nursing staff to enhance clinical competencies, critical thinking skills, and teamwork. Foster a culture of continuous learning and evidence-based practice among nursing teams. 
  • Work closely with nursing supervisors and administrative staff to coordinate scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation across all outpatient oncology centers. 
  • Assist in budget planning and monitoring for nursing services department, ensuring efficient utilization of resources while maintaining high-quality care standards. 
  • Collaborate with clinical and operations leadership on strategic initiatives and quality improvement projects to enhance operational effectiveness and patient outcomes. 
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and quality standards in collaboration with nursing supervisors. 
  • Support nursing team in conducting audits, assessments, and performance evaluations to monitor compliance and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Assist in the implementation of corrective actions and quality improvement initiatives to address deficiencies and promote a culture of excellence. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in oncology nursing practices and procedures. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. 
  • Proficiency in computer applications and electronic health records (EHR) systems. 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. 
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. 
  • Current BLS and Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy (ONS) certification.  
  • Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) or related specialty highly desirable.  
  • Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience in oncology or a related field. 
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a supervisory or managerial role. 

PHYSICAL WORKING REQUIREMENTS: 

The position involves prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, extensive computer use, and phone interaction. Additionally, the role may require occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds for office supplies or equipment.
