Associate Engineering Manager - Infrastructure & Platform - Flutter UK&I (24 months), Hybrid

The UKI Infrastructure and Platform team provide core services to our product and technology teams to enable them to have delivery and execution independence.  

Join the Flutter UKI Infrastructure and Platform team as an Associate Platform Engineer, where you'll play a pivotal role in supporting and contributing to the organization's technology infrastructure.

This position offers a valuable opportunity to kickstart your career in infrastructure management and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment.   The team functions as a 24/7 operational support unit with on-call availability.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

Demonstrates Knowledge of Infrastructure & Platforms Systems: Applies an understanding of primary engineering systems, successfully leveraging this knowledge to independently complete tasks with occasional guidance on the Flutter UKI platform infrastructure. This includes both the development of new platforms and the enhancement of existing ones to meet evolving business needs.
Ensures that high performers are challenged and champion their development. Equally ensures that poor performers are managed accordingly.
Take responsibility for ensuring every team member has 121s, clear objectives, performance reviews and career development plans.
Responsible for measuring and achieving high levels of employee engagement, maximising retention of team members.
Driving Improvement: Shows a keen ability to identify areas to improve processes, adopt new technologies, and enhance the reliability, performance, and security of the platform during task execution

Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with stakeholders to define project goals, scope, and deliverables. Develops and maintains project plans, timelines, and resource allocation. Communicates status externally
Collaboration: Developing effective communication and collaboration with other teams, such as development and operations. You'll work closely with these teams on initiatives, embracing feedback with a positive attitude.
Works with product owners, project managers, engineering managers, scrum teams to determine the business value of proposed projects and features
Creates and maintains the team's Backlog (Prioritizes and sequences the Backlog according to business value or ROI)
Ensures the team understands the wider context of their initiatives
Trusted to drive the successful delivery of complex initiatives through effective planning, risk management and communication with the relevant stakeholders
Works with key business customers, stakeholders, external technology partners and other groups within Flutter UK&I business to lead complex initiatives from concept to customers

Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required 

General knowledge of Platform Engineering Principals
General knowledge of working with at least 3 of the following technologies 
  • Kubernetes/Docker 
  • Networking
  • Cloud platforms
  • Git
  • CI/CD Systems
  • Config/Infrastructure as Code
  • Configuration Management (Chef, Ansible)
  • General Linux operations.
  • Infrastructure Specific Products (Virtualization, Storage technologies, Hardware appliances)
Interest in the evaluation of new technologies and tooling. 
Enthusiasm and keen to learn attitude
People and communication skills.
