Existing set of responsibilities : FinOps [Cloud Cost Optimization]

• Provide Cloud Cost Optimization recommendations to different segments based on the Global tools i.e. Grafana/ROAR/Turbonomics.
• Provide support to different segments on expediting the analysis including SNOW creation and Cost Validation after fulfillment of the request if needed.
• Provide support on scheduling and administering resources in Azure particularly VMs to optimize cost.
• Provide guidance on different segments on how to do analysis through publishing standard playbooks to different Azure Resources.
• Provide support in onboarding application in AKS Kubecost together with cost optimization analysis on their cluster.
• Provide deep analysis to different segments on their Cloud consumption (upon request)

Future facing set of responsibilities:

1. FinOps

• Maximize existing tools within Manulife, particularly Power Platform to perform automation which includes analysis of the resources.
• ROAR and Ansible prework initiatives in preparation of enhancing ROAR and scheduling activities.
• Continuous upskilling to support existing tools from Python up to Terraform.
• Expansion of FinOps to other compute outside Azure, tooling evaluation/reconciliation and cost management

2. GenAI:

• Technology PoCs, plugins evaluation and integrations
• Advanced analytics, reporting and exec reporting for key use cases
• Provide research and development using latest trends of technology including AI.
• Provide solution and software designs to different programs ensuring same pattern is implemented on their projects.

3. People Management for Cloud engineers based out of Manila

• Intelligent automation
• Platform support: apigee, APIN, keyvault, others to follow the sun model
• Provide upskilling program to enhance skills across all MITDC Cloud engineers
• Provide Cloud support for teams exploring new resources that is viable to their project within the Azure Cloud.
• Career management, coaching and support to local Cloud engineers
