Job Title: Cardiac Sonographer

Department: Imaging

Location: SCHI - Brighton

Hours Per Week: 16 Hours per Week

Schedule: Monday - Friday

SUMMARY:

Performs medically prescribed diagnostic echocardiographic procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics, utilizing various modes and techniques, including but not limited to 2-dimensional, M-Mode, color flow, pulse wave, and continuous wave Doppler, in accordance with accepted protocols.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Able to appropriately determine the clinical question being addressed:

  • Reviews the patient's chart and history

  • Refers to the physician, as needed

  • Utilizes imaging protocols established by the American Society of Echocardiography, ICAEL Echo Standards.

  • Enters patient demographics on the ultrasound machine.

  • Utilizes proper patient positioning techniques to obtain optimal image 

  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate OR Bachelor's Degree in Ultrasound is required.

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior Sonographer experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
