We are looking for an enthusiastic student to work in the Lumentum Engineering and Quality group to contribute to the development of our factory tools used in the manufacture of our cutting edge WSS (Wavelength Selective Switch), optical amplifier and STB (Super Transport Blade) products.

                                               

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and to learn about the factory tools development process at Lumentum. In this position, students will;

  • Help support Ottawa E&Q sustaining team perform statistical analysis of test data.
  • Develop processes to help monitor and highlight excursions in manufacturing quality.
  • Collaborate with our R&D and Manufacturing teams touching on all aspects of the product design and assembly process.
  • Contribute to solutions that are both hands-on and software-based that work to improve manufacturing quality.
  • Help to improve the existing processes through the creation of documents, process flows, etc.

Required Skills:
                    

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Highly motivated and energetic.
  • Listening, patience and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating integrity, commitment to quality and learning.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and interest in the use and development of software solutions.

Any of the following would be considered a strong asset:

  • Experience creating reports with large data sets.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and aptitude in data analytics.
  • Practical experience with tools to query, analyze and present data, such as Excel Pivots and Charts, JMP, Minitab, or Python.
  • Practical experience with JIRA.
  • Interest to work on the lab equipment.
