Our Corporate team in Brisbane has the most established Japanese practice in Australia. The team works with a variety of high profile Japanese companies, advising on general corporate governance and M&A transactions in Australia. Reporting into Hiroyuki Kano, we are looking for a motivated Senior Associate to join this busy and impactful team. You will have the opportunity to work with, and collaborate with a team who have experience acting for a variety of

Japanese clients, and who have provided the firm with a thorough understanding of Japanese cultural principles in conducting business.

This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in diverse and interesting work, and be mentored by experienced, well known Partners who are continuing to grow their practice.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, the following attributes will be required:

• Senior Associate experience in private practice or in-house;
• strong academic results;
• fluency in writing and speaking Japanese;
• Japanese qualified Bengoshi not essential (but would be advantageous);
• proven experience working on a range of corporate and commercial matters;
• the ability to communicate and build a rapport with our clients;
• a desire to develop and participate in business development initiatives; and
• a proactive attitude towards personal development to expand your skills and knowledge to meet client needs.

In addition to this, we're looking for a driven, self-starter; someone who is able to work autonomously and is focused on attention to detail and providing an outstanding service to their clients.
