As part of a small, hardworking, and accomplished team of specialists, you will be responsible for translating engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into additively manufactured metallic flight hardware. This involves educating engineers/designers on design for additive manufacturing, creation of the print model, owning the manufacturing process, tracking work orders, addressing manufacturing issues, and continuing to work improvements. You will work closely with operators, quality technicians and engineering counterparts to support the processing of complex rocket engine and rocket components (i.e. thrust chambers, injectors, turbo pumps, etc). As an integral member of the team, you will use data to drive process improvements, relay design improvements to engineering, and in general serve as a direct feedback loop between design and fabrication.  

Responsibilities:

  • Own the development of Additively Manufactured (AM) components from concept to production using Laser Powder Bed (LPB) printing.
  • Work to define and deliver production print models using state of the art software tools, configuration controlled process, and design for AM.
  • Demonstrate machine specific workflows and software packages to improve additive designs.
  • Participate in company process definition, documentation, and improvement teams for manufacturing processes, business processes, production planning, lessons learned, and other standards/processes as needed.
  • Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define the full process from print to delivery.
  • Closely manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process.
  • Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.
  • Ability to support operations onsite in Kent, Washington and during off hours (if required) via phone or online tools

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or higher in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Exposure to and understanding of laser powder bed fusion printing or similar

Must be physically able to:

  • Support production floor activities onsite  to keep parts flowing.
  • Ability to support onsite in in Kent
  • Support off hours for production if required

Desired:

  • Advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Aerospace and rocket engine development experiences.
  • Strong solid understanding of engineering concepts and design for manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD design (Creo), support design (Magics), and simulation packages (MSC, ANSYS).
  • Proven experience developing and printing LPB hardware.
  • Experience with generating work instructions to build complex assemblies
  • Experience creating, developing, and maturing processes to production readiness level
  • 1+ years of experience working in metallic additive manufacturing and design.
  • Solid understanding of design for additive manufacturing and support strategies.


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $69,840.00-$97,776.00

Other site ranges may differ
