We are looking for a talented individual who shares our values to join our team as Purchasing Manager. This position reports to the Profit Centre Manager and is responsible for ensuring the continuous availability of goods to prevent disruptions in sales. The role involves making prudent investments in inventory and contributing to profitability by effectively managing the total acquisition costs. The Purchasing Manager will work to secure optimal supplier performance by actively pursuing process improvements with trading partners.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Stock Level Monitoring: Track and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock availability.
  • Supplier Negotiation: Negotiate terms and pricing with suppliers to obtain the best possible deals.
  • Purchase Order Creation: Generate purchase orders and coordinate logistics to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Order Tracking and Management: Monitor orders to ensure timely receipt and process incoming orders efficiently to maintain smooth operations.
  • Stock Audits: Assist with quarterly stock counts and subsequent reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Inventory Cost Analysis: Review and analyse inventory costs to manage expenses effectively.
  • Product Sourcing: Sourcing of new suppliers and products.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster effective communication and strong working relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all purchasing activities adhere to company standards, policies, and regulatory requirements, maintaining high quality and ethical practices.
  • Team Oversight and Management: Monitor and guide the work output and performance of the purchasing team, oversee the day-to-day functions and administration of the purchasing department.

Job Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s or associate degree in a business discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in managing or supervising a team.
  • Procurement experience in the retail/distribution sector.
  • Excellent written, oral and negotiating skills.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.
  • Have an understanding of market trends and be commercially aware.
  • Must be willing and able to travel overseas.
