We create and deliver an aligned, dedicated marketing strategy to fuel each Expedia Group brand's success. Since our travelers interact with us through our brands, we have a brand focus in our marketing, while leveraging the scale and efficiency we’ve built in functional expertise.

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Marketing Data Engineering team which is responsible for building and maintaining data and software products that unlock opportunities for marketing performance reporting across all EG brands.We believe in being different and challenging the status quo. In this role, you will:

  • Design, build, and support scalable and durable data solutions that can enable self-service consumption use cases using cloud-based technologies in an agile manner.

  • Work closely with business teams and stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into data-driven insights.

  • Create automated reporting solutions to enable self-serve analytics.

  • Design and implement efficient data models for reporting and analytics use cases.

  • Develop scalable and highly performant distributed systems focusing on key metrics including availability, monitoring & resiliency.

  • Monitor and optimize the performance of data processing applications, ensuring they meet throughput and latency requirements.

  • Implement data quality checks and data governance practices to maintain data accuracy and consistency.

  • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, code, and configurations.

  • Promote good development methodologies via code reviews, great software design, brown bags, or tech talks. 

  • Provide support to both internal and external team members where necessary. 

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field or equivalent related professional experience

  • 7+ years of proven experience in Big Data and distributed systems.

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in BI development with tools like Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or Qlik.

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Apache Spark & Scala for big data processing.

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Apache Airflow, or other data orchestration tools.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data querying, transformation, and optimization.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work across India, London and US time zones for collaboration with global teams.
