Senior Portfolio Analyst
We are seeking a Senior Portfolio Analyst to join our team at Marsh. This role will be based in Mexico City. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. As a Senior Portfolio Analyst at Marsh, you will analyze project performance, facilitate data-driven decision-making, and ensure that projects align with strategic business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong financial background or demonstrable experience managing project budgets, financial models, and cost controls in addition to being proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of collaborating effectively across teams to enhance project delivery, ensure quality deliverables, and drive value realization.
We will count on you to:
- Resource Management: Define and manage the Allocation & Capacity process to ensure that projects are staffed with the right resources possessing the necessary skills. Maintain a comprehensive database of skill sets and coordinate with project delivery teams for updates on resources within the defined Project Tool, ensuring resource costs and utilization data are captured accurately.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Provide tools and processes to technology colleagues regarding project data (such as timesheets, project health, human resources, and budget) to facilitate data-driven decision-making. Oversee the time reporting process, including the development of new tracking methodologies, ensuring that all entered data is valuable for financial and operational analysis.
- Budget Monitoring: Own portfolio-level budget tracking and monitoring for projects (including software, hardware, contractors, and FTE costs) to ensure alignment with the overall OWG Tech spending strategy. Prepare and present reports on portfolio performance, including resource allocation, budget adherence, forecasts, variance analysis, and project outcomes.
- Performance Analysis: Analyze project performance and financial metrics and provide insights to support decision-making and prioritization of projects. Effectively gather and analyze project portfolio and staffing metrics, developing new methods for identifying and assessing project KPIs and return-on-investment considerations.
- Risk Management: Collaborate with project managers to identify and track project and financial risks and implement mitigation strategies. Address potential resource and budget risks, providing proposals for solutions to senior management when escalation is necessary.
- Reporting and Communication: Track and report on the Tech Portfolio status, financial metrics, and health to senior management. Provide regular reports on resource utilization, budget vs. actual, burn rates, and project health, assisting in the development and enhancement of project health indicators across portfolios.
- Negotiation and Relationship Management: Negotiate for financial or human resources to support multiple projects aligned with organizational objectives. Develop and maintain productive working relationships with project and Domain sponsors, customers, vendors, finance partners, and other key stakeholders.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Information Technology, Project Management, Business Administration or a related field
- 5+ years of project management experience and 2+ years of experience in managing large portfolios and portfolio-level financial responsibilities.
- Demonstrable experience managing project budgets, financial forecasting, variance analysis, or financial modeling.
- Full knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and tools (e.g., Planview, ADO, Trello, etc.).
- PMP or Scrum Master certification is preferred. Finance-related certifications (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent) or demonstrable finance experience are a strong advantage.
- Advanced Level of English is a Must
