Job Title: Neurology/Neurosurgery Resident

Job Type: 3-year fixed term contract

Hours: Full time, plus participation in the ‘out of hours’ rota

Residency start date: 12th May 2025

Your role and responsibilities

We have just opened a Neurology/Neurosurgery Residency position for a 3-year fixed term from May 2025 and are looking for an enthusiastic person, with a good sense of humour, to join our team. The neurology team currently consists of two ECVN diplomates, two board-eligible clinicians, two ECVN residents and a neurology intern, supported by RCVS, European and American Specialist clinicians in a wide range of disciplines (anaesthesia, cardiology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery and dentistry). We also have an on-site physiotherapy team.

Our hospital contains all the facilities expected of an advanced referral centre including 1.5T MRI, 64 Slice CT, electrophysiology equipment, a full range of neurosurgical equipment, fluoroscopy, video-endoscopy, minimally-invasive and orthopaedic surgical equipment.

The position is a three-year programme that satisfies the training requirements of the European College of Veterinary Neurology. It will include structured time off clinics for study and research, daily clinical rounds, a weekly journal club and resident seminars. The neurology resident will work under the supervision of the neurologists and will be involved in the daily care of patients, consultations, diagnostic procedures, and neurosurgeries. This opportunity is ideal for someone who has previous experience in neurology, has a genuine passion for the discipline and who is looking to pursue a career in this field.

We strongly support ongoing training and CPD, and as a member of our team you will receive a competitive salary and a benefits package which includes private health care and a company pension scheme.

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

- have excellent English language skills

- be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS) or be eligible to register

- have a minimum of two years of clinical experience since graduation and/or have completed a rotating or neurology internship in a multidisciplinary referral centre. Experience in small animal practice in the UK is desirable.

All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.
