Summary of Job Duties:

The Medicaid Manager is responsible for all functions related to processing of Medicaid cases. This includes monitoring status of Medicaid cases. This person will work as a mentor for DHS policy training and oversee training new employees. The manager works to improve the unit’s organizational functions and quality of work with results to include a decrease in the number of overdue applications and the number of case errors.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration or related plus 2 years Medicaid experience OR high school diploma/GED plus 6 years Medicaid experience required. Supervisory experience and advanced knowledge of DHS policy and procedures required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience with Medicaid eligibility, second party review of Medicaid cases and experience with DHS Answer and Mainframe system


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

•    Establishes and maintains performance standards for productivity, quality and compliance with DHS and develops monitoring tools.
•    Analyzes program and prepares reports as required.  
•    Seeks out continued education on regulatory changes and ensures information is provided to the staff to maintain compliance.
•    Interacts with patients/families/significant others, internal staff, other departments, visitors, and outside agencies such as the Department of Human Services and Social Security Administration.  
•    Successfully complete DHS Curam Caseworker Training.
•    Supervises department staff by monitoring daily activities and productivity and takes appropriate actions to ensure staff consistently meets performance standards.  
•    Maintains proper staffing levels based upon workload. 
•    Document personnel issues and responds in a timely and appropriate manner.  
•    Promotes and maintains teamwork concept. 
•    Adheres to Hospital Admission and UAMS standards for professional dress and conduct in the performance of all duties.  
•    Develops annual personal goals and future planning for department improvements and growth.
•    Must be able to make decisions regarding employee time/attendance, staffing levels, disciplinary actions and all other activities related to supervision of staff.  
•    Must adhere to UAMS policies. 
•    Accountable for meeting department goals and objectives.  
•    Performs other duties as assigned.
