About the Role

The Workday on Workday Product Team is looking for an experienced Manager, Software Development who will lead a team of software developers and be responsible for delivering Workday innovations and solutions using modern technologies to provide an unparalleled level of agility, ease-of-use, and integration capability.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grow, lead and inspire a team of software developers to build and maintain the product
  • Provides proactive visibility and effectively communicates delivery targets, commitments and progress
  • Identifies impediments early, actively works to resolve those impediments, and escalates when needed
  • Management and tracking of cross team/squad dependencies
  • Management and tracking of all high-integrity commitments
  • Works to minimize meetings and ceremonies, but when they are needed, they are well-run and efficient
  • Encourages a culture of team-driven decision making and commitment
  • Where appropriate, coaches the teams to improve collaboration and outcomes

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working in the engineering organization of a product company using common Agile methods (Scrum, Kanban, XP)
  • 1+ years managing development teams of engineers
  • 2+ years of experience building Integrations, API experience, SQL /WQL, JavaScript with JSON & XML

Other Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of software design and development experience including experience leading ML engineering
  • Good general understanding of how large scale software systems are designed, built, tested, deployed and into the hands of customers.
  • Experience recruiting, growing, and mentoring a diverse group of colleagues
  • Solid communicator to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong understanding of delivery methods and metrics.
  • Good general understanding of the role of product managers, product designers, engineers, quality assurance, and dev ops
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification
  • Experience with Workday Extend, Workday Integrations; Python development is a plus
  • Knowledge of SaaS applications, SaaS deployment models, and SaaS DevOps
  • Consistent track record of leading complex multi-functional technical initiatives in a fast paced environment
  • Experience building trust and credibility with key stakeholders
