It’s not just about your career or job title… It’s about who you are and the impact you will make on the world. Because whether it’s for each other or our customers, we put People First. When our people come together, we Expand the Possible and continuously look for ways to improve what we create and how we do it. If you are constantly striving to grow, you’re in good company. We are revolutionizing the way the world moves for future generations, and we want someone who is ready to move with us.

Who will you be working with?

Our team consists of Systems Engineers that have deep domain expertise and tenured locomotive experience. Here you will be an integral member of this elite team as you interface with Product Management and Subsystem Engineers to architect new system solutions that meet the needs of our customers and promote competitive differentiation within our products.

How will you make a difference?

The Systems Architect will be assigned locomotive system problems encountered during new product introduction that encompass high levels of subsystem integration.  The solutions to these problems will be defined through the decomposition of clear requirements to the subsystems for efficient execution.  The Systems Architect will work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and lower-level design engineers to create a robust, feasible, and complete architecture.  The Systems Architecture will use a Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach using the System Modeling Language (SysML).

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience

What will your typical day look like?

  • Be responsible for the decomposition of the system into lower-level systems and system elements

  • Allocate the functions to each lower-level system or system element

  • Identify the system elements within lower-level systems as necessary to provide proper context for system level interfaces

  • Identify and design the system level interfaces (structural and behavioral interfaces)

  • Create test cases to verify the requirements of the System Architecture Specification

  • Trace each test case to each requirement it is verifying

  • Develop and design the procedure to execute each test case

  • Provide the expected results of each test case

  • Produce additional material may include a concept of operations, operational scenario analyses, trade-off analyses, detailed interface control documents, modeling and simulation results or executables, feasibility studies or tests, and other supporting documentation.

  • In addition to the deliverables, the Systems Architect is responsible for explaining, advocating for, defending, and ensuring compliance with the architecture throughout the development process.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

This position is also eligible for a performance bonus.  More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, is available at mywabtecbenefits.com.

Relocation assistance may be provided if eligibility requirements are met.

Wabtec will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the U.S. for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a drug screen (as applicable) and fitness for duty test (as applicable).
