Job Summary

The Stress Technician is responsible for administering stress tests to patients to assess cardiovascular health under the direction of a physician. This role prepares patients for testing, applies monitoring equipment, performs exercise or pharmacological stress testing according to established protocols, monitors patient response during testing, documents results, and communicates findings to the supervising physician and care team.


 

Qualifications

Essential Functions
•    Prepare patients for stress tests by explaining the procedure, answering questions, confirming readiness for testing, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
•    Apply electrodes and other monitoring devices to measure heart rate, blood pressure, cardiac rhythm, and other vital signs during testing.
•    Administer exercise stress tests and/or pharmacological stress tests to support evaluation of cardiovascular health under physician direction and established protocols.
•    Continuously monitor patients during stress testing and respond promptly to symptoms, abnormal readings, or complications according to department procedures.
•    Document stress test results, patient responses, interventions, and related information accurately in the medical record.
•    Communicate test results, patient concerns, and relevant findings to the supervising physician and other healthcare providers.
•    Maintain stress testing equipment and supplies, ensuring equipment is functioning properly and reporting issues as needed.
•    Assist with scheduling stress tests and other cardiology procedures as needed to support patient flow and department operations.
•    Participate in quality assurance, safety, and process improvement activities.
•    Perform other duties as assigned.
•    Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and standards.

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1-2 years experience

Preferred:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
  • Basic Life Support
  • Certified Cardiographic Tech
