Performs work of unusual difficulty in conducting research projects consonant with the overall goals of the Hospital and in providing medical care to Boys Town National Hospital patients and referral patients. Participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary teams.

Boys Town National Research Hospital

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Provides direct specialty allergy/asthma and immunology care to Hospital patients.

  • Serves as a medical member of the multi-disciplinary evaluation and remediation team with special responsibility for the care of children with allergy/asthma conditions and children admitted to BTNRH inpatient unit or pediatric ambulatory care units.

  • Cooperates with other Hospital staff members in the conduct of clinical and/or basic research projects.

  • Participates in and/or conducts the various educational programs developed by the Boys Town National Research Hospital in undergraduate and graduate medicine, continuing education, nursing, and related allied health fields.

  • Participates in the development of program/project objectives, sub-objectives, and staffing needs for the medical program as may be required for sound management decision making.

  • Undertakes special projects as directed by the Executive Director, BTNRH or the Coordinator, Comprehensive Pediatric Medical Services.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to demonstrate willingness to serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, involving non-physicians, dealing with communicatively disabled children.

  • Ability to apply research expertise as demonstrated by a records or sustained work published in medical journals.

  • Provides patient care and education according to the patient population served.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited medical school required.

  • Board Certification in Allergy and Immunology and medical licensure or eligibility in the State of Nebraska required.

  • Have, or be able to qualify for, medical school faculty appointment in Internal Medicine or Pediatrics and be able to qualify for hospital staff privileges at BTNRH required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-residency experience, particularly in an academic setting preferred.

  • Prior experience in a medical setting dealing with communicatively disabled children preferred.
