Let’s Talk About the Role:
As a Senior NPI Automation Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in developing and implementing Automation for manufacturing processes, equipment, facilities and documents, in order to meet the current and future production volume, quality, OHS and cost requirements. In this role, you will be part of an experienced manufacturing team that excels in the prototyping, process development and delivery for NPI, directly influencing Resmed’s innovation journey.
Let’s Talk About Responsibilities
Design and Implement Automation Solutions: Develop and deploy automation systems and processes to enhance manufacturing efficiency, reduce manual labour, and improve overall productivity. This includes designing control systems, programming PLCs, and integrating automation equipment.
PLC Programming & Troubleshooting: Develop, optimize, and maintain PLC and HMI programs (Allen Bradley/Rockwell).
Robotics & Automation: Program, maintain, and troubleshoot robotic systems, integrating robotics into high-volume manufacturing lines.
Optimize Manufacturing Processes: Analyse existing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement. Implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality. Conduct regular assessments and adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
Troubleshoot and Maintain Automation Systems: Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of automation equipment and control systems. Ensure that all systems operate reliably and resolve any technical issues that arise promptly to minimize downtime.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Development, production, tooling design, and QA teams to understand their needs and provide technical support for automation projects. Ensure that automation solutions align with production goals and comply with safety and quality standards.
Process Validation & Technical Documentation: Manufacturing Process Validation – Support process qualification and validation activities within a regulated manufacturing environment. Perform DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ activities & ensure accurate documentation. Ensure automation systems meet industry standards, documenting changes, validations, and troubleshooting processes.

Let’s talk about Qualifications and Experience:
Required:
B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering (or equivalent).
Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience with automated control systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming (Allen Bradley/Rockwell).
Experience with Fanuc robotics programming and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with safety standards (ISO, IEC, OSHA).
Experience with networked I/O systems (EtherNet/IP, IO-Link).
Quality-oriented mindset and proactive in recommending updates to processes where appropriate.
High level of communication agility required to work across cross functional teams. Excellent communication and documentation skills, including technical reports.
Achievement-oriented, independent, innovative, explorative, resourceful, with an attention-to-detail attitude.
You are a team player with a can-do attitude and are willing to try, fail, and learn from your mistakes.
Preferred qualifications:
Strong mechanical aptitude with skills in SolidWorks, mechanical design, and implementing real-world process improvements.
Experienced in Jigs & Fixtures Design, Material Selection, Fabrication Methods and Components Selection.
Electrical knowledge, including the ability to read and interpret schematics.
Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis and issue resolution.
Background in medical device manufacturing and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
