Job Summary

Provides acupuncture to patients at the Integrative Medicine centers to help in alleviating their pain, other physical and emotional issues and promote wellbeing. Acupuncturist will work within the department's goals and procedures. Traditional Chinese Medicine, of which acupuncture is a part, is a holistic system of healing which has diagnosed, treated and prevented illness for over 3000 years.

Essential Functions

  • Evaluates patient’s physical and mental condition and determines the appropriate acupuncture treatment. Prepares a written individual pan of care for each patient suitable to the patient’s medical status.

  • Ensure activities are conducted under safe conditions. Advises physician/health team of any contraindications to acupuncture, special precautions to protect both patient and acupuncturist. Follows accepted standards of sanitation, hygiene, safety, and universal precautions to protect both patient and acupuncturist.

  • Communicates procedures and plan of care to the patient prior to the therapeutic session. Monitors feedback from the patient throughout the session. Elicits feedback from the patient regarding the benefit of the acupuncture treatment.

  • Coordinates and assists as needed in preparing patients for acupuncture. Assists or supervises transport of patients to and from treatment areas, when needed. Supports, turns and stabilizes patients in order to administer acupuncture.

  • Treats the patient in a manner consistent with accepted standards and ethics. Relates to the patient in a manner that respects the integrity of the patient. Documents acupuncture treatments provided on the day that service is given. Provides progress notes to the health care team as requested.

  • Collaborate and refer to other practitioners in Integrative Medicine.

  • Promote acupuncture when requested by supervisor.

Qualifications 

Required

  • Acupuncturist skills and competencies will be evaluated by the hiring manager.

  • CRT-Specialty Certification -  Women's Health Upon Hire

Preferred

  • 1 year of relevant experience Experience working in a medical environment for 1 to 5 years.
