As the Budget Analyst you will develop and negotiate clinical trial budgets; interpret clinical trial protocols from a financial perspective, negotiate pricing with study Sponsor, and present budget proposals to executive leadership.

  • You will create comprehensive new study budgets in Excel based upon Sarah Cannon and its affiliated sites’ cost and charge information, analyzing each clinical trial protocol in order to provide a detailed counteroffer to the Sponsor's initial budget proposal while delivering on established timeline expectations and metrics surrounding each budget

  • You will negotiate study budgets with Sponsors/CROs in order to result in a favorable overall result for Sarah Cannon and its affiliated sites, while establishing and maintaining effective business relationships for future negotiations

  • You will communicate proactively and solicit input from clinical staff, operations leadership, site leadership, Tennessee Oncology and others in order to receive timely clarification on clinical trial protocol specifics, standard of care, billable items and other nuances affecting the budget

  • You will effectively communicate statuses for all assigned budgets to both clinical and financial executive leadership

  • You will interface with Financial Services teams to understand the requirements and ramifications of budget design on study accruals and receivables, collaborating for issue resolution

  • You will serve as the Site Liaison and direct point of contact for budget questions, queries, and considerations from designated Strategic Sites

  • You will review and process sponsor requests for assigned budget amendments and maintaining status in clinical trial management system

  • You will identify continuous improvement opportunities within the department, collaborating on initiatives to enhance team processes

  • You will serve as process champion for designated workflows and lines of business

  • You will participate in protocol and budget review meetings, site operational meetings, and other pertinent meetings to solicit and share information

  • You will prepare and present all assigned budgets to executive leadership

  • You will collaborate with Contract Analyst to generate final contract for execution

  • You will utilize the clinical trial management system in order to assist with both historical and new study budget input

  • You will maintain current and complete status of study budget creation and negotiation progress in the clinical trial management system.

  • You will use reporting from the clinical trial management system, MicroStrategy, and other sources to manage priorities, follow-ups, and expectations, and to meet established metrics for budget finalization and CTA execution

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 1 year work experience utilizing basic financial principles, Excel, and other data management tools (e.g. CTMS)

  • Functional knowledge of clinical trials, preferred

  • Analytical decision making

  • Project management

  • Negotiation and professional communication
