The Opportunity

This position works out of our Willis Tower, Chicago, IL location in the PA Public Affairs Division.

The Senior Manager, Creative Strategist will oversee the development of creative briefs that transform marketing strategies into relatable, elevated, and smart creative outputs. You’ll inspire creative solutions and spark ideas that help Abbott’s audience connect more deeply with the brand. Additionally, the Senior Manager, Creative Strategist will drive cross-functional storytelling by identifying cultural events, trends and consumer mindsets. You’ll partner with key cross-functional teams to develop strategically driven creative campaigns and content that attracts, engages, and activates target audiences, while increasing Abbott’s share of voice and brand awareness metrics.  

Manage day-to-day marketing programs and activities so that they meet the organization's short and long-term business objectives, comply with regulations and standards, and protect the organization's public reputation.

What You’ll Work On

  • Work with senior business and creative leaders to define and develop current and future campaigns through the lens of a connected consumer journey.  
  • Collaborate with creative leaders in the manifestation and articulation of innovative ideas through presentations of creative strategies, proof of concept, prototypes and well-articulated, persuasive narratives.  
  • Champion and influence the development of ideas that reinforce the values of the Abbott brand.  
  • Inspire the team to create game-changing ideas and work that shape the future of advertising.  
  • Be a thought leader on how mobile technology and AI are fundamentally changing consumer behavior and brand marketing.  
  • Display a passion for understanding people and desire to uncover new consumer behavior across various industries and platforms.  
  • Research and have your finger on the pulse of culture, technology, and business to distill insights that will drive media product innovation.  
  • Facilitate strategic and creative workshops with cross-functional teams in the development of creative product, campaigns and content strategies.  
  • Manage the development and execution of creative strategy that attracts, engages, and activates our target audience. They are digitally-savvy and love engaging in meaningful conversations.  
  • Think outside of the box to actively seeks opportunities and propose solutions.  
  • Partner in the strategic development of compelling digital and social media marketing campaigns that align with product launches, seasonal moments, or larger initiatives.  
  • Inform the team with high-quality, engaging content that inspires the team to build meaningful connections and encourages consumers to take action. 

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, business, marketing or related field is required.
  • More than 8 years of experience in marketing, with at least 6 years in a high-level communications environment within a corporate / team environment or marketing agency preferred
  • Able to achieve results within a rapidly changing, fluid and highly matrixed environment
  • Deep understanding of the current consumer and \media landscape globally
  • Candidates must have a track record of excellent professional writing, communication, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to and experience in thinking ‘outside the box’ when it comes to strategic product communications and creative
  • Positive, can-do attitude; ability and willingness to do what is needed to get a job done.
  • Lead from the front while also growing and motivating team members.

The base pay for this position is

$125,300.00 – $250,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
