SUMMARY

The Employment Law Paralegal assists the Legal Department with employment-related complaints, charges and compliance issues, as well as general support for the Department. The focus will be employment law, but the position will assist with other areas including litigation, commercial, compliance, and ongoing organization and support for the Legal Department. The position will handle both substantive and administrative tasks such as file management and general clerical duties. Accordingly, there is an expectation of strong technical skills, including MS Word, Excel, Adobe and PowerPoint and ability to learn new internal systems.

Job Details

Compensation:
Towne Park is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location. The annual base pay range for this position is $65,000.00- $80,000.00.

Additional Compensation: Employees may be eligible to receive annual incentive bonuses depending on their job classification and the policy guidelines. 
 

Benefits: Employees are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, and vision insurance, accident insurance, critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity insurance, and telemedicine benefits. Employees are provided company-paid basic life and AD&D insurance as well as short-term and long-term disability. Employees are also able to enroll in the company’s 401k retirement savings plan.

Paid Time Off: Employees accrue 0.0385 hours of PTO per hour worked up to a maximum of 80 hours per calendar year. Employees receive 6 paid holidays throughout the calendar year and employees accrue up to a maximum of 4 paid floating holidays per calendar year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform all functions.

  • Partner with Human Resources to identify and collect documents relevant to and/or responsive to litigations, agency charges, and subpoenas.
  • Review employee-related documents, such as personnel files, wage, and time records for responsiveness and potential redaction for production to outside or opposing counsel.
  • Finalize and submit the company’s response to employment discrimination claims filed before an agency or attorney demand letters.
  • Coordinate investigations into wage and hour claims and summarize conclusions.
  • Review investigations and analyze them for completeness.
  • Prepare and submit final responses on wage claims to the investigating agency.
  • Analyze new matters to identify relevant witnesses and custodians and prepare, distribute, and maintain litigation hold notices.
  • Revise and prepare initial drafts of severance and settlement agreements.
  • Review and calendar subpoenas and coordinate responses to the same.
  • Basic legal research and analysis often related to employment and labor or commercial issues, or issues relevant to valet or general hospitality services.
  • Organize and maintain digital files related to litigation
  • Review and maintain the Legal Department’s litigation tracker.
  • Maintain and record all outside counsel fees in the master tracker.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree and a minimum of four (4) years of related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • For insurance purposes, one must be at least 18 years of age and be able to pass a criminal background, MVR, and drug screen
  • Experience working within a corporate legal department

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively address all levels within the organization as well as administrative agencies and outside/opposing counsel.
  • Demonstrated work ethic, drive, energy, and persistence to achieve goals
  • Ability to maintain stability, dependability, and professionalism when faced with challenges and/or a fast-paced work environment
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook), Adobe, and various technology and internal applications
  • Ability to compose professional internal and external business communications including memos, letters, and e-mails

Authority to Act:

The job is fairly routine. Incumbent follows established practices and procedures. Duties are performed with specific directions given and work is checked or verified frequently. Decisions are made within specific operational instructions and departmental guidelines. Errors in judgment could affect the smooth and efficient operation of the department.

Budget Responsibility:

The employee has control over resources available only.

Lifting Requirements

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Working Environment

The majority of work will be performed in a climate-controlled environment but may be exposed to inclement weather and varying degrees of temperatures on occasion.

Travel

Travel of up to 5% may be required.
