What You Will Do:

  • The State and Local Government practice provides individuals the opportunity to serve our States, Counties, Cities, Higher Education, Non-Profit, and Multi-lateral clients in the areas of: economic development, sustainability, disaster recovery, business design, organizational strategy, technology strategy, market analysis, financial modeling, operational analysis, process improvement, change management, technology implementation, risk management, compliance monitoring, and program management.

  • We deliver compelling, high impact solutions to our state and local government clients' toughest business and technology problems.

  • We translate strategy into action.


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree with a MINIMUM of FIVE (5) years of consulting experience, preferably in housing and community development; years of experience can be substituted for a formal degree

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the country

  • Up to 50% travel

  • This role is a hybrid role which will require you to go into the closest Guidehouse Office as needed or on occasion

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Preference will be given to candidates who reside within a reasonable number of miles to a Guidehouse office.

  • Demonstrates knowledge in and passion for improving state and local government through academic courses and project work; Preferred advanced degree programs include business, information sciences, public policy, urban planning, data analytics, economics, engineering, and math. Applicants with non-traditional degree backgrounds are still encouraged to apply.

  • Demonstrates proven success and thorough skills to define and lead client-work including conducting baseline assessments, building a future state vision, developing implementation plans, managing multiple stakeholders, and communicating with varying audiences

  • For candidates with prior expertise in technology, demonstrating familiarity with project management, including Agile methodology and the systems design life cycle. Further pluses would include candidates with SQL experience, and experience in data management and analytics, with tools like Python or R.

  • Demonstrates proven success and thorough knowledge of key facets of state and local government, including the following: Sub-verticals including sustainability, urban planning, education, housing, transportation, justice, and/or administration

  • Demonstrates proven success and thorough knowledge of core management consulting skills such as project management, financial modeling, operational modeling, and stakeholder management

  • Demonstrates proven success as a team leader, creating a positive environment and managing staff workloads, while meeting client expectations to include: Providing candid, meaningful feedback in a timely manner, keep leadership informed of progress and issues, and answer questions and offer direction to less-experienced staff.

The annual salary range for this position is $109,100.00-$163,700.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
