Job Description:
As Senior Principal Product Manager for Audio/Video Platforms, you will lead the strategy for a capability vital across the entire Dow Jones portfolio, with a primary focus on consumer-facing B2C products like The Wall Street Journal. Your vision will empower users to engage with rich, high-quality media experiences, centered around the evolution of our mobile Media Center. This role involves tackling the complex challenges of media at scale, from advancing our mobile video discovery experiences to modernizing our podcast publishing capabilities. You will also deliver our live video product strategy, ensuring our platforms reliably deliver the premium, high-impact coverage our audiences expect. You will shape the future of audio and video across our portfolio, driving significant business value. This role reports to the VP of Product of Core Experience Platforms.
You Will:
Develop, own, and champion the overarching product strategy for a unified video and audio ecosystem that scales across our consumer surfaces, internal workflow tooling, and podcast distribution.
Lead the integration and continuous improvement of media experiences across Dow Jones apps and web platforms, building a cohesive destination for media consumption.
Drive engagement through modern discovery features, implementing automated tools that support multi-format publishing (such as vertical and horizontal video) and enable the rapid creation of video snippets.
Elevate the subscriber experience by experimenting with and implementing interactive engagement hooks, such as subscriber-only commenting, real-time Live Q&A, and live polls.
Establish and centralize video landing pages to prioritize active live events and streamline video discovery.
Optimize internal workflows to drastically reduce setup time for live events, replacing highly manual processes with scalable, automated solutions.
Partner cross-functionally with the newsroom, consumer product, and advertising teams to build automated messaging strategies (push/email) that drive traffic during key media moments and test new monetization formats.
You Have:
12+ years of experience in product management, with a significant track record in a leadership capacity focused on large-scale digital media platforms, streaming technologies, or news publishing products.
Demonstrated experience developing product strategy and operational plans for complex media ecosystems, spanning modern mobile video consumption, live streaming, and podcast distribution.
Proven ability to deeply understand diverse user journeys and translate a premium brand’s editorial vision into actionable, scalable product solutions.
Deep understanding of A/V platform technologies, including video player ecosystems, Media Asset Management (MAM) systems, live/VOD infrastructure, and dynamic video paywall monetization.
A strong analytical mindset focused on defining and monitoring KPIs related to media engagement, completion rates, and subscriber retention, while continuously evaluating the competitive landscape.
