The Sr. Underwriting Assistant will contribute to the management of the Cyber & Technology Liability renewal book as well as supporting an established team of underwriters on new business through underwriting, client retention and sales support. The Sr. Underwriting Assistant will also be cross-trained to provide as needed support for other Ambridge Professional Liability books of business. The Sr Underwriting Assistant is responsible for processing and facilitating various comprehensive underwriting support functions including but not limited to; validating account information, pursuing supporting risk documentation directly from producers, inputting and interpreting premium and loss data, reconciling figures, technical processing, policy administration, mid-term adjustments, and organizing electronic records. This position will involve mentoring, coaching, some supervision and training of junior Underwriting Assistants as needed. The Sr. Underwriting Assistant may also train and/or supervise third-party vendor/s providing service and support to the department. Furthermore, this role will prove an opportunity to learn the more technical aspects of commercial insurance which in turn will provide the basis for developing an underwriting skill set for potential advancement.• Data validation – Troubleshoot data issues as they arise to ensure the proper new and renewal premium and loss data are provided for technical processing and underwriting pre-work.
• Document production – Ensure production is timely and accurate – troubleshoot systems issues should they arise- during the preparation of policy documents, quotes, endorsements and invoices for Underwriter approval and liaise with brokers accordingly.
• Peer review / meetings - To attend weekly meetings; collate minutes; and participate in discussions on risks written, document issuance and credit control within Ambridge.
• Develop a process for the organization of underwriting documentation and electronic records.
• Broker relationships - liaise with brokers to follow up on status of pending renewal and new business, current quotes and outstanding documents.
• Maintain list of issues and enhancements needed for consideration as Velocity upgrades are undertaken; participate and advise IT working groups when enhancements and data flow interdependencies are to be developed.
• Work with Underwriting Assistants as appropriate to ensure timely and accurate production of premium bordereaux.
• To enter, update and transfer key underwriting data in Velocity systems and other systems as required.
• Track and maintain submission log activity
• Liaise with Finance to assist with validation of Cyber Team financial transactions.
• Act as Project Shepherd as directed by management. Project Shepherds assist with tracking project progress on behalf of the project manager and key stakeholders.
