What’s involved in the Electrical Maintenance Relief role:

The Island Farms plant is looking for an Electrical Maintenance Relief Worker employee to support their operations.

Working in the maintenance department, duties will include the following

  • Diagnose and replace faulty electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components on machines and equipment.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is conducted within Safety, Food Safety, and Product Quality fundamental requirements.
  • Monitor day to day operations, prioritize work orders as needed, and ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Start up and shut down power plant equipment, control switching operations.
  • Monitor and inspect plant equipment, computer terminals, switches, valves, gauges, alarms, meters, and other instruments to measure temperature, pressure, and fuel flow to detect leaks or other equipment malfunctions and to ensure plant equipment is operating at maximum efficiency.
  • Respond to emergency situations if required.
  • Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform and learn a variety of tasks with minimal direction.
  • Work with minimal supervision and as a team member.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement, utilizing your skills, observations, and participation.

  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe workplace.

  • Be able to diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components on machines and equipment.

  • Good written and oral communication skills essential.

  • Monitor day to day operations, prioritize work orders as needed, and ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.

  • Basic hand tools and tool pouch required.

  • Ensure compliance to Agropur policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Ensure productivity, encourage teamwork, and build departmental cohesiveness.

  • Provides a high level of customer service through a proactive approach to daily plant problems and issues.

  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement, utilizing your skills, observations, and participation.

  • Ensure all maintenance work is conducted within Safety, Food Safety, and Product Quality fundamental requirements.

  • Previous maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or industrial setting would be considered an asset.

  • PLC experience is a definite asset.

  • Flexibility to change shifts based on department requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Electrical Certificate of Qualification

  • Class Power 4th Engineer Certificate of Competency or the ability to achieve one within a 12-month period.

  • First-aid Level 2 certification preferred.

This is a 24/7 operation - candidates must have flexibility in their availability and able to work days, afternoons, and night shifts.
