Job Summary:

The Enterprise IT Cost Estimator serves as the sole point of contact and is accountable for developing, managing, and communicating IT cost estimates for various development projects. As the key representative of IT in cost estimation, this role collaborates closely with the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) and other organizational units. The IT Cost Estimator works directly with development teams to accurately estimate project costs, secure necessary approvals, and ensure alignment with budgetary expectations.

Essential Functions:

  • Act as the primary IT representative for all cost estimation activities across development projects, interfacing with the EPMO and other organizational stakeholders
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including project sponsors, architects, and IT leaders, to confirm the scope and budget requirements of each initiative
  • Develop detailed cost estimates in conjunction with engineering teams, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project objectives
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of estimates from both internal and external resources based on the defined project scope
  • Secure commitment and approval from relevant engineering teams and stakeholders on all estimates
  • Submit finalized estimates to appropriate tracking systems and monitor the actual spend against the estimated budget throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identify and recommend improvements to enhance the accuracy of future cost estimates
  • Stay informed on current IT systems capabilities, project methodologies, and emerging technologies to refine estimation processes
  • Develop and maintain estimation models and tools to streamline the estimation process and improve accuracy
  • Perform any other job duties as requested

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent years of relevant work experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in IT, with at least three (3) years dedicated to creating detailed estimates for IT projects
  • Experience working closely with project management teams, especially within healthcare IT systems, is preferred

  • Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with stakeholders across different levels
  • Expertise in identifying dependencies among various IT teams and systems
  • Comprehensive understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, and the interdependencies between them
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong negotiation skills to ensure alignment between estimates and project requirements
  • Effective problem-solving abilities and the capability to work independently

Licensure and Certification:

  • Certifications in estimating, such as Certified Professional Estimator or Certified Cost Estimator, are preferred
  • Project Management certifications (e.g., PMP) are preferred

Working Conditions:

  • General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Occasional travel may be required

Compensation Range:

$90,500.00 - $158,400.00
