Title: RCM Collections Specialist
Department: Central Business Office
Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time team member for the role of RCM Collections Specialist. This individual is responsible for processing patient responsibility or self-pay billing and coordinating with our outside collections partner. The Collections Specialist also handles patient calls to answers billing questions and resolve disputes.

Essential Job Functions
• Coordinates with outside collections agency by sending weekly files,
responding to queries, and posting monthly payment
• Works with the financial practice management system (GPMS)to manage the
SBI (collections) queue and manages cases on the Account Collections
modules
• Sends statements and collections letters in a timely manner
• Makes SBI or write off adjustments in applicable queues within the
established weekly deadline
• Accurately and timely posts SBI invoice and self-pay payments received in the
Central Business Office and/or the payment transaction software
• Accurately and timely posting zero dollar explanation of benefits
• Effectively communicates with the collections agency representatives via
email or phone and can resolve issues with little or no assistance
• Effectively communicates with patients (via email or phone) and is able to
explain and resolve issues by prioritizing patient satisfaction but maintaining
the integrity of UMC Physicians policies
• Recognizing, researching, and resolving issues and reporting to management
effectively
• Applies patient credits to collections balances
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must have experience in meeting people and dealing with them under adverse conditions. General computer skills. Must have excellent customer service and organizational skills. Must be capable of learning quickly and accepting change. Computer skills are essential with a minimum of 40 wpm and 10 key by touch. Ability to analyze and solve issues. Must have good oral and written communication abilities.
Minimum Qualifications
• High School diploma
• High attention to detail
• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong communication skills.
Preferred qualifications:
Previous experience in medical billing and/or insurance follow-up
Environmental Conditions:
Well heated and ventilated building. Normal office environment. Fast paced, professional environment.
Physical Requirements:
Work is of medium demand; walking and sitting most of the time while on duty, Adequate hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills are required. Visual acuity and writing skills are necessary for factual documentation. Hours may vary to accommodate the needs of the corporation.
