Mellina Animal Hospital is looking to add a Veterinary Assistant/technician to a busy 3-doctor practice. Previous veterinary experience required. Seeking a positive-thinking individual capable of wearing many hats. The ideal candidate will have experience rooming patients, assisting in surgery, placing IV catheters, drawing blood, and running bloodwork, knowledge of x-rays and proper positioning, experience with proper animal handling and restraint, understanding the importance of client education, and being a positive and supportive team member.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of clinical veterinary experience (required) 
  • Actively support veterinarians and other staff in daily patient and client care.
  • Be an active listener, paying close attention to details.
  • Prep and monitor patients for surgery, including proficiency in IV catheter placement.
  • Phlebotomy
  • Ability to calculate and administer injections.
  • Observe the behavior and conditions of animals.
  • Actively demonstrate dependability and the importance of work to clients, supervisors, and other employees.
  • Participate in cross-training and are willing to work in all areas of the hospital.
  • Easily adapt to situations that arise, such as emergencies, taking initiative, dealing with high volume on the phone, as well as in person.
  • 10-hour shift
  • Weekends as needed
