Role Overview

The Design Team Lead guides and empowers a team of designers by providing leadership, organization, communication, task prioritization, and technical oversight. This role involves mentoring team members, managing tasks, liaising with stakeholders, and driving recruitment and performance reviews to foster a high-performing design team.

The Design Team Lead works closely with the Business Leadership to maintain efficient development processes, provide transparent progress updates, and ensure that products are sustainable and drive user adoption.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Facilitation

• Define tasks clearly, provide regular project updates, and facilitate problem-solving discussions to enable the team of designers to focus their bandwidth on the creation of exceptional products with well-defined requirements.
  
  
• Participate in recruitment efforts, including reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and supporting onboarding plans.
  
  
• Conduct constructive quarterly reviews for team members and provide upward feedback to leadership.

Organization & Planning

• Collaborate with the Business Leadership to establish and maintain efficient development processes, timelines, and workflows that enhance team productivity and ensure timely project delivery.
  
  
• Create, manage, and assign tickets in Linear to streamline task tracking and accountability within the team.

Communication & Reporting

• Partner with the Business Leadership to collaborate with cross-functional teams and deliver regular progress updates to stakeholders and upper management.
  
  
• Communicate roadblocks and delays transparently, providing well-reasoned explanations and solutions.

Technical Oversight

• Offer technical guidance and support to team members, ensuring that the team adopts best practices and tools for design excellence.
  
  
• Collaborate closely with Engineering teams to align on technical requirements and ensure seamless integration across disciplines.

Troubleshooting & Support

• Foster team collaboration to identify and resolve technical challenges.
  
  
• Promote a culture where challenges are viewed as learning opportunities rather than failures.

Continuous Improvement

• Advocate for ongoing enhancements to processes, workflows, and tools.
  
  
• Stay informed about emerging design technologies and integrate relevant advancements as appropriate.
