Registered Nurse (RN) - Special Care Nursery (part-time, 24 hours/week + call)

Childbirth is one of life’s most special moments. Patients deserve to have a voice in the care they and their baby receive, and Mercy Hospital’s 2A 2C Maternity Unit ensures their voices are heard. This unit strives to give patients the birth experience they want, which may include developing birth plans, skin-to-skin contact, different labor and birthing positions, delayed umbilical cord clamping, focus on the Golden Hour, and more.
A caregiver in this position works 7:00pm – 7:30am with on-call requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and their families.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
One year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN).
RN experience in a maternity setting
