This is a fixed term contract covering parental leave with potential to extend.

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to be responsible for processing and managing payroll duties for FNZ, managing payroll related projects, and providing timely and accurate payroll reporting and data to the business as required. The Payroll Specialist will serve as a liaison between FNZ and our current payroll vendor. To be successful as a Payroll Specialist, you should possess exceptional mathematical skills, written and oral communication skills and maintain the core values of the organization.  

Specific Role Responsibilities

  • End-to end preparation and processing of the bi-weekly payroll. Experience of Workday preferable although full system training can be provided.

  • Full lifecycle payroll responsibilities including BAU, all end of year tasks and audit requirements

  • Address and resolve any employee queries on tax, payroll, leave and superannuation

  • Manage the communication with employees and other key stakeholders around the business to obtain relevant information and approvals required for payroll processing.

  • Business partnering with the HR team and Finance Business Partners for payroll review, approval and other queries

  • Ensure that the HRIS (Workday) and other HR information systems are accurate and kept up to date with relevant payroll related actions (leave, pay changes, employee details etc)

  • Be responsible for producing high quality accurate data and reports on core HR processes (for example absence levels, pay information, headcount, turnover and monthly vacancy reports).

  • Manage any payroll related audits, reviews and/ or any special payroll related projects

  • Manage any historic pay investigations and related projects

  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation changes and ensure compliance across all payroll locations

  • Participate in Global projects related to FNZ’s growth (M&A and integration, Fix the Foundation project in Workday, standardization of the payroll processes and SOP's, implementation of new Workday modules such as Time Tracking)  

  • Deliver HR metrics such that they complement the business plan.  Although not exhaustive, these should capture trends in attrition, absence, retention and engagement and suggest solutions to improve accuracy of these.

  • Prepare regular and ad/hoc reports for management, auditors, IRS and other government/state authorities 

  • Work closely with wider HR team to provide outstanding support for the business.

Experience required

  • Knowledge of US payroll is required, alongside understanding and experience with Canadian payroll.

  • Previous experience working in a payroll administration environment, specifically with an understanding of payment and deduction processing and the handling of sensitive data.

  • Strong IT skills - WorkDay experience is desired.

  • Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail

  • Ability to manage competing deadlines, problem solve and analyze effectively

  • Good team communication skills, confident in dealing with internal clients

  • Ability to work under pressure as part of an effective team
